Syrian Forces Reestablish Security in Deir Ezzor

The Syrian Army''s General Command and Armed Forces said Thursday that they recovered the complete security and stability in the north-eastern city of Deir Ezzor.

According to a military communique the struggle is still fought against small groups of terrorists belonging to the Islamic State (ISIS) and other groups, dispersed in zones of Syria.

Military sources said it was important to ensure the security of Deir Ezzor, a strategic city that is used as a link between the east, the north and the center of Syria, rich in oil, gas and agricultural products.

Deir Ezzor is also a main corridor to move from the Syrian desert of Badia to Iraq. In the last hours, brigades of sappers started works on deactivation of explosive devices planted by the terrorists in some places in the city.

After recapturing the city of Deir Ezzor, the biggest in the east of Syria, the army and its allied forces concentrate its attacks in direction to the strategic city of Al-Bukamal, bordering with Iraq, considered to be the last stronghold of the Islamic State.

Meanwhile, according to diverse reports, the Iraqis and Shiite militias supported by Iran, recaptured a border crossroad with Syria, which was in possession of the ISIS, along with a highway between the city of Al-Qaim in Iraq and Al-Bukamal in Syrian soil.
