The UK Royal Mail announced that it hopes to resume its postal services to Iran soon, and therefore is taking delivery of mails to this destination.

According to IRNA, the UK Royal Mail Company announced last night on April 16, 'Since it is hoping to resume sending correspondence to Iran in the near future, is taking delivery of postal packages until further notice.”

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UK in a Twitter message on Monday wrote that the British Post Service (Royal Mail), by deleting the previous statement, has announced that the company does not have the possibility to send correspondence to Iran because of executive issues, and is looking for an immediate solution to the problem.

According to IRNA on Monday, Hamid Baeedinejad stated, 'The embassy is in contact with the relevant authorities to resolve the issue urgently, and will notify any change to the dear compatriots.'

The British Royal Royal Mail issued a statement last week in an unconventional action, stating that sending correspondence to Iran had been stopped from April 9 until further notice.

The decision was taken as a result of blocking the dispatch of correspondence to Iran, and said that packages that have not yet reached their destinations will be sent back to their senders.

Parcelforce Worldwide which is a subsidiary of Royal Mail, has stopped sending mail to Iran.

The Iranian diplomat said on Friday that the follow-up showed that the UK Foreign Ministry and the UK Post have been shocked by the company's announcement. They have promised to seriously seek immediate correction of this decision.

'If the problem of sending postal mail is not resolved until the first day of the week on Monday, the embassy of our country in London will, until definitive resolution of the problem, will make arrangements for delivery of mail to Iran and deliver it free to Iran Post.'

In 2015, the British government handed over all its shares in Royal Mail to the private sector and will not be responsible for its decisions.

Baeedinejad in his Wednesday tweet confirmed Royal Mail decision.
