Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of Egypt’s national security, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said yesterday.

Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and the kingdom’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.

During the meeting, Sisi described his country’s relation to Saudi Arabia as “deep and solid strategic alliance.”

He also stressed on Egypt’s keenness to develop “a high-level bilateral cooperation and coordination between the two countries [Egypt and Saudi Arabia] to confront the region’s current developments.”

Salman arrived in Egypt on Monday, as part of his first foreign tour since the murder of the killing of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the kingdom’s consulate in Istanbul on 2 October.

Nearly 100 Egyptian journalists were reported to have rejected Salman’s visit, holding him responsible for Khashoggi’s murder. In addition, a wide number of activists in Tunisia and other Arab countries included in Salman’s tour have also expressed their opposition to receiving the Saudi Prince.
