Prime Minister Theresa May should drop her red line over the role of the European Court of Justice after Brexit, members of Britain’s Labour Party urged in a letter published Wednesday in the Financial Times.

"We reject the ideological and deeply unhelpful red line the prime minister has drawn that would prevent any future involvement of an EU-U.K. court-like body [over regulation], even when such an arrangement is demonstrably in the national interest,” Shadow Brexit Secretary Keir Starmer and Shadow Health Secretary Jonathan Ashworth wrote in the letter.

Brussels wants the Court of Justice to continue to offer legal protection for EU citizens living in the U.K. May’s government has said it does not want any role for the EU’s highest court post-Brexit.
