Syrian government and opposition members confirmed their participation in Astana talks on July 4-5: FM
International meeting on Syrian crisis settlement will be held in Astana on July 4-5.
"Participants of the talks are already arriving in Astana. As we have earlier said, Russia, Turkey and Iran confirmed their participation," Kairat Abdrakhmanov said.
"Delegates representing the Syrian government confirmed their participation and are on their way to Astana. Syrian opposition has also confirmed their participation," he added.
The observers of the Astana process are coming too. "Among them is the acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East for Mr. Jones, the delegation of Jordan will also participate, and UN representatives have already arrived. Arrival of the UN Special Representative for Syria Mr. Stafan de Mistura is also expected," the minister concluded.
Astana has already hosted 4 international talks on Syrian crisis
settlement in January, February, March and May. Signing of a memorandum
during the fourth round of the talks on creation of 'safe zone' is
believed to be one of the most concrete steps yet to ending the
conflict. The memorandum bans any use of use of weapons in the zones of
deescalation in Syria since from May 6. Iran, Russia and Turkey, the
main sponsors of the Syria peace talks in Kazakhstan, signed the deal.
