Israeli planes targeted a military position near the province of Hama in Syria on Saturday, but Syrian air defenses intercept ed and downed some of the rockets, Syrian state television said on Saturday.

Syria downed at least two Israeli missiles south of Damascus using its air-defense S-200 batteries, according to local television that showed images of the intercept ion. The explosions, no less than five, were heard in all of the capital and according to media reports the attack was launched against areas of Kiswee, some 15 kilometers south of Damascus.
