Gen. Robert Abrams nominated to lead US Forces Korea
Gen. Robert Abrams, the head of Army Forces Command, has been nominated to be the next commander of U.S. Forces Korea.
If confirmed, Abrams would replace Gen. Vincent Brooks at the helm of some 28,500 American troops based in South Korea as well as the United Nations Command and the Combined Forces Command.
Gen. Vincent Brooks, leader of U.S. Forces Korea, the United Nations Command and the Combined Forces Command, attends a press conference at the Seoul Foreign Correspondents' Club, Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018.
The four-star general was listed as the nominee on the Senate Armed Services Committee website, which said he’ll face a confirmation hearing on Sept. 25.
USFK’s public affairs office said Monday that it would have no comment on the nomination or Brooks’ plans pending the confirmation hearing.
