Brexit march in London draws thousands of protesters calling for a 'People's Vote' on final deal

Thousands of people marched through the streets of London demanding the British government hold a final public vote on the terms of Brexit.

Organisers Open Britain said about 100,000 protesters packed the main arteries of the capital, waving British, Irish and European flags and colourful banners to call for a "People's Vote" on the eventual deal in which Britain leaves the world's biggest trading bloc.

Hundreds of people also attended a pro-Brexit counter-protest, carrying Union flags and St George's flags.

Pro-EU demonstrator Juuso Jarviniemi said it was a no-brainer for him to travel from Edinburgh for the protest, the biggest march the Remain movement has had since 2016.

"It really represents an interesting and important shift in discourse," Mr Jarviniemi said.
