Ruling AKP district deputy chair shot dead in Turkey's Diyarbakır
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputy chairman of the southeastern province of Diyarbakır's Lice district, Orhan Mercan was shot dead early on June 1, the party’s district chairman said.

shot dead early on June 1, the party’s district chairman said.
Mercan was shot in front of his house in the Mulla neighborhood and taken to Lice State Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to İsmail Demir.
Initial indications point to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) being responsible for the attack, Demir said.
