Pezeshkian: resistance is Iranians' choice

Speaking during a visit to the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade in Tehran,  Pezeshkian referred to the war imposed on the country and the enemy’s economic pressures and emphasized the government’s approach of relying on the people’s capacities.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has two paths ahead; either to stand (against enemies) by relying on the people and alongside them, or to surrender to pressure, and the choice of the Iranian nation and government is undoubtedly to stand, resist, and preserve national dignity.”

The president continued by referring to some structural limitations and challenges of the country’s economy, including the budget deficit, and said, “We must move realistically, based on the country’s capacities and assets, and at the same time, not allow foreign pressures and excessive demands to affect the will of the Iranian people.”

Pezeshkian emphasized that if the Iranian nation resists pressures and excessive demands and discourages the enemies from achieving their goals, they would not dare to think of undermining the country’s independence, security, and territorial integrity.

Referring to the government's policy of reforming economic structures and reducing dependence on oil revenues, he said the government’s duty is to reform regulations, facilitate processes, and remove export barriers in order to pave the way for the development of exports and increase the country’s foreign exchange earnings.

“By strengthening exports and increasing domestic production capacity, the enemies’ hope of exerting economic pressure and creating dissatisfaction in the country will turn into despair.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Pezeshkian referred to his recent meeting with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, highlighting the atmosphere of the gathering and the Leader's personal, ethical, and managerial qualities.

He described the meeting as having taken place in a warm and sincere atmosphere, with discussions lasting nearly two and a half hours.

He stated that what stood out more than any other issue was the Leader's humble, deeply sincere, and respectful manner of engagement — an approach that transformed the discussion into an environment built on trust, calm, empathy, and direct dialogue.
