Araqchi, who has traveled to Beijing at the head of a diplomatic delegation, held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Wednesday morning.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed various dimensions of bilateral relations and cooperation in different fields, including economic and trade ties, as well as the implementation of agreements between Tehran and Beijing.
Araqchi referred to the longstanding ties between the two ancient civilizations of Iran and China and described Beijing as a close friend and strategic partner of the Islamic Republic.
He emphasized the Iranian government’s firm determination to expand comprehensive strategic relations with China on the basis of mutual respect and trust, saying the strategic partnership between the two countries would continue more strongly than before under the new circumstances.
The Iranian foreign minister also outlined the crimes committed by the US and the Zionist regime against the Iranian people, as well as serious violations of humanitarian law during the imposed 40-day war of aggression.
Araqchi praised China’s principled stance in condemning violations of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter by the US and Israel, and also commended Beijing’s responsible approach toward Washington’s misuse of the UN Security Council.
He expressed hope that with China assuming the rotating presidency of the Security Council and continuing its active role, constructive developments would emerge to prevent ongoing lawlessness and violations of international peace and security.
Araqchi also briefed Wang Yi on the latest diplomatic developments and ongoing initiatives aimed at ending the imposed US-Israeli war against Iran, including the Iran-US negotiation process mediated by Pakistan.
He stressed that just as Iran has acted powerfully in defending itself and remains fully prepared to confront any hostile action, it is also serious and steadfast in the diplomatic arena.
For his part, Wang Yi praised the resistance and steadfastness of the Iranian people against aggressors and hailed Iran’s goodwill and responsible approach, particularly Araqchi’s diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation in the region.
The Chinese foreign minister reiterated Beijing’s firm support for Iran’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security, emphasizing that China fundamentally opposes the use of force and the continuation of the “illegal war,” whose damaging consequences affect not only Iran but all countries and nations in the region and beyond.
Referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s four-point proposal for the immediate and definitive end of the war and the establishment of lasting peace and security in the region, Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s strong support for diplomacy and dialogue as the proper means for resolving disputes.
The two foreign ministers also reviewed the latest progress in implementing bilateral agreements and cooperation projects in economic and commercial fields, exchanged views on opportunities for further expanding relations, and agreed to continue consultations and meetings between senior officials of the two countries.
