Iran's Araqchi to visit Turkey for talks

Anadolu news agency quoted Turkish Foreign Ministry sources as saying on Thursday that Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to tell his Iranian counterpart Araqchi during their meeting on Friday that relations between Ankara and Tehran, which have historical ties, are of key importance for regional security, stability, and prosperity.

Fidan is also expected to underline Turkey's will to further develop bilateral relations through mechanisms such as the High-Level Cooperation Council established in 2014, and to state that mutual efforts should be intensified towards the goal of increasing bilateral trade volume to $30 billion, the sources said.

During the upcoming meeting, Fidan is expected to express Turkey's desire to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in trade, energy, transportation, and connectivity, including border trade centers, the report added.

Fidan is also expected to state that Turkey is closely following recent developments in Iran, emphasizing that Iran's security, peace, and stability are of great importance to Turkey.

Furthermore, the Turkish foreign minister is expected to reiterate Ankara's opposition to military interventions in Iran, highlighting the regional and global risks, and express Turkey's readiness to contribute to resolving the current tension through dialogue, Anadolu reported.

Fidan is also expected to state that Turkey supports a swift and peaceful solution to Iran's nuclear program and is ready to provide assistance if needed. He is also expected to highlight the role played by the PKK/PJAK terrorist groups in the recent unrest in Iran, underlining that the complete neutralization of PJAK is an urgent necessity for Iran's security, according to Tasnim.

As part of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, Fidan is expected to emphasize that Turkey prioritizes the rapid implementation of concrete steps on the ground, including the uninterrupted delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid, along with the identification of mechanisms that would including Turkey, the sources said.

He is also expected to state that Turkey supports the reconstruction of Gaza to create conditions that will allow Gazans to remain in their own land and live in peace and security, and to draw attention to the need for regional countries to act with a spirit of solidarity and cooperation in the face of the Israeli regime's actions targeting regional stability.

Furthermore, Fidan is expected to state that strengthening peace and security in Syria will contribute to regional stability, emphasize the importance of the full implementation of the Ceasefire and Full Integration Agreement within the framework of the necessity of protecting Syria's territorial integrity, unity, and sovereignty, and point out the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Syria to prevent any weaknesses in the transfer of Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) prisoners.
