Fadavi, head of the advisory group to the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), made the remarks in a televised interview, saying Iran has already conveyed its red lines to the regional states.
He stressed that Iran has never targeted regional countries themselves, but has struck US bases located in those countries, noting that Tehran considers an American base in any country to be no different from US territory.
“We have declared our red line to the countries of the region,” Fadavi said. “Any point from which an action against Iran originates will be targeted.”
He added that the southern Persian Gulf countries have provided the US with numerous bases. Therefore, when attacks against Iran originate from the territory of these countries, Iran will naturally target those bases, he noted.
“That is why the Americans do not dare to have even a single vessel in the region,” he said.
Fadavi further stated that the Strait of Hormuz has remained firmly under Iran’s control throughout the past several months.
According to Fadavi, the US has maintained a presence in the Persian Gulf since 1853, but for the first time, no American vessel is currently present not only in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz or the Gulf of Oman, but even in the northern Indian Ocean.
“The Americans have fled and moved more than 1,000 kilometers away from our borders,” he said, stressing that this was not a decision made voluntarily by the US but rather the result of the power of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IRGC Navy.
