An analysis has examined why the Israeli regime is believed to have been behind the recent drone attack on Egypt's Damietta Port.
A few days ago, regional sources reported that two vessels at Egypt's Damietta Port were targeted in a drone attack. US media outlets and sources, including The Wall Street Journal, which is knows as one of the White House's psychological warfare tools, claimed that Iran was behind the attack.
Nevertheless, Iran officially stated that the Damietta Port incident had no connection to the Iranian Armed Forces. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi also stressed that the attack was a false-flag operation—meaning it was carried out by another party while attempting to point the finger at Iran.
But why is the attack unrelated to Iran?
1. Iran has always promptly and openly acknowledged every target it has struck. Therefore, when Iran publicly announces every attack it carries out against US bases or interests in the Persian Gulf littoral states or Jordan, it follows that if it had been responsible for this attack as well, it would have declared it clearly and courageously.
2. According to sources within the Iranian Armed Forces, targeting US interests in Egypt has fundamentally never been part of Iran's operational agenda or strategic doctrine.
3. The United States and Israel have clearly failed to achieve their objectives against Iran, particularly their effort to remove the Strait of Hormuz from Iran's control. They have also failed to persuade many other countries to join their campaign of aggression against Iran. As a result, they have shifted their focus to portraying the Islamic Republic as a threat to countries around the world—especially those in the region and, in particular, the Arab states. For this reason, through false-flag operations against certain countries, they seek to attribute such attacks to Iran.
Israel, in particular, has a long history of carrying out such operations. Accordingly, some assessments indicate that the attack on the Egyptian port was the work of the Zionist regime.
4. "If you cannot solve a problem, expand it." This is described as a wartime strategy employed by the United States and Israel, which holds that if a problem cannot be resolved, it should be widened until it affects everyone.
It appears that the attack on the Egyptian port falls within the framework of this strategy.
