In a statement, the IRGC Public Relations said that following the Zionist regime’s ceasefire violations in southern Lebanon, a few hours earlier the US regime that repeatedly breaches its commitments violated its obligations as always and launched an airstrike on the coast of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the pretext that Iran had prevented a ship from passing through the Strait of Hormuz via an unauthorized route.
In response to this aggression, the IRGC Navy struck the terrorist US military deployment points in the region, the statement said.
According to Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tehran and Washington, Iran is responsible for the arrangements for controlling traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the statement noted, adding that the US has, however, sought to violate this commitment by inciting various parties, which resulted in a necessary response, and this will continue to be the case.
“In the event of a repeat of aggression, our response will be more extensive.”
Earlier, the United States Central Command had reported carrying out attacks against some targets in Iran.
CENTCOM that overseas the American forces deployed to the West Asia region, alleged it had staged the aggression in return for, what it described as, a Thursday drone strike against a vessel, which it named as Singapore-flagged cargo vessel MV Ever Lovely. The strike, it claimed, took place as the vessel was departing the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast.
