Pezeshkian says national unity forced enemy into ceasefire in 12-day war

President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran’s unity during the 12-day Israeli war of aggression in June 2025 thwarted the enemy’s objectives and forced it to agree to a ceasefire despite attacks targeting the country’s military officials, scientific elite and civilian infrastructure.

In a message issued on Saturday to mark the first anniversary of the Israeli-imposed war, Pezeshkian honored those martyred during the conflict and said the Zionist regime had wrongly assumed that strikes on senior military commanders, nuclear scientists, strategic facilities and residential areas would weaken Iran and destabilize the Islamic Republic.

He said the Iranian nation’s steadfastness, alongside the leadership of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the readiness of the Armed Forces, prevented the aggressors from achieving their objectives and compelled them to halt the war.

Describing the conflict as a demonstration of national solidarity, the president said Iranians from different political and social backgrounds stood united in defense of the country and national interests.

Pezeshkian also commended the public’s patience amid economic pressures over the past year, saying the administration had continued efforts to address people’s concerns and manage challenges despite difficult conditions.

He stressed that the government remained focused on easing hardships and pursuing practical solutions, adding that public welfare had not been neglected at any stage.

Referring to guidance from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, the president emphasized the importance of preserving national cohesion, strengthening defense capabilities and maintaining vigilance against future threats.

Pezeshkian expressed confidence that Iran would continue advancing through social solidarity, the capabilities of its younger generations and optimism about the future.
