The spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry emphasized Tehran’s independence in pursuing national rights and called the use of the language of threats and ultimatums against the country ineffective and ridiculous.
Speaking in a televised interview on Wednesday evening, Esmaeil Baqaei referred to the latest status of efforts to end the US-Israeli war and restore stability to the region and said the exchange of messages between the parties continues through the Pakistani mediator.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the presence of the Pakistani interior minister in Tehran is to facilitate the exchange of messages and provide additional explanations to clarify the texts sent between the parties.
Regarding Iran’s specific demands, Baqaei said: Tehran’s main focus is on ending the war on all fronts (including Lebanon), release of frozen assets, and and end to harassing actions and “maritime piracy” against Iranian shipping.
He added that despite the negative record of the other side in the past year and a half, Iran is pursuing the path of negotiations with seriousness and good faith, but it has “strong and logical suspicion” of the US’s performance.
According to him, using the language of ultimatums and deadlines against the Islamic Republic of Iran is ridiculous and such pressures will never work.
Regardless of threatening behavior and all kinds of political and military pressures, Iran is seriously pursuing its path to secure its national interests and realize its legitimate rights, he reiterated.
Baghaei said Tehran’s main focus is solely on national goals and interests, and such threatening rhetoric has no effect on the country’s decision-making and macro policies.
