Speaking to reporters in Mashhad on Wednesday, Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia referred to the sensitive position of the Strait of Hormuz and said the waterway is currently under the strategic control of Iran’s Armed Forces.
He explained that the western side of the strait is under the control of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy, while the eastern side is controlled by the Iranian Navy.
Describing the coordinated and synergized control as a factor increasing Iran’s oversight and dominance over the region, he said such control would generate revenues for the country amounting to as much as twice Iran’s oil income.
The Army spokesman further warned foreign powers that Iran would not allow any country to transport American weapons through the Strait of Hormuz. He added that if such weapons had previously been stationed at regional bases, most of them have now been destroyed.
Akraminia also emphasized that Iran would no longer allow the passage of American weapons through the Strait of Hormuz or permit sanctions against Iran.
