Former security official describes details behind US failed special op. in Isfahan

In an interview with TABNAK, Alaeddin Boroujerdi said, "The volume of equipment and forces deployed shows that the real goal of the operation was to transfer Iran's enriched uranium, not to rescue the F-35 fighter pilot.”, adding that the operation failed due to timely action by Iranian forces."

Alaeddin Boroujerdi stated, "The Americans brought several C-130 aircraft to the scene for this operation escorted by about 80 Delta forces and used an abandoned airport in the Mahyar Plain, 20 kilometers north of Shahrerza. Also, 6 fighter jets, including two F-35s, two F-16s, and two F-15s, and at least 20 combat drones, were also present in this operation."

Boroujerdi said, "Evidence shows that the main goal of this operation was to search for enriched uranium and transport it outside of Iran, and that is why such a large amount of military power was used."

He continued,  "Although some American forces were stationed on the ground, they ultimately tried to evacuate all their forces from the area with the two remaining aircrafts. Two other C-130s were also attacked by Iranian forces and practically grounded, then the American fighter jets bombed them to prevent the equipment from falling into the hands of Iranian forces."

Boroujerdi emphasized: "This was a major setback for the United States, and in order to preserve their reputation, they tried to focus the media narrative on the rescue of the F-35 pilot."
