
According to a statement issued by the Islamic Development Coordination Council, nationwide ceremonies will be held to mark the 40th day of mourning for Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, with the public invited to participate widely.
The council said mourning ceremonies, religious gatherings, and Quran readings will begin on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in main squares, mosques, and religious sites across the country.
On Thursday morning at 9 a.m., mourning processions and religious groups are scheduled to move from Meydan-e Jomhouri-e Eslami toward the location identified in the statement near the site of the late leader’s martyrdom.
The statement also announced a collective recitation of a prayer for the well-being of Imam al-Mahdi at 9 p.m., accompanied by the recorded voice of the late leader in public squares and religious sites, Mehr reported.
On Friday, before Friday Prayers, memorial ceremonies are scheduled from 10 a.m. in prayer grounds across Iran.
