Iranian judicial authorities have released new information on an Israeli spy arrested in Karaj, confirming the discovery of advanced intelligence and surveillance equipment inside his residence.
Iran has released new details in the case of an Israeli spy whose trial has officially begun at the Second Branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Karaj. According to Hossein Fazeli Harikandi, Head of the Alborz Province Justice Department, the defendant is an Iranian dual-national residing in a European country who was identified and arrested by the Alborz IRGC Intelligence Office on the fourth day of the 12-day war, Mehr reported.
Fazeli Harikandi stated that evidence collected in the investigation shows the defendant had held multiple meetings with Mossad officers and had received training both in several European states and in the occupied territories. He added that the suspect entered Iran about one month before the start of the 12-day war via an international airport to carry out a mission.
Upon arrest, and later during a search of the villa where he was staying, officials reportedly uncovered a range of advanced espionage and intelligence-gathering equipment.
The judiciary official said the case is being pursued under the charge of “intelligence cooperation and espionage in favor of the Zionist regime,” in accordance with Article 6 of Iran’s Law on Countering Hostile Actions of the Zionist Regime Against Peace and Security.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked aggression against Iran while Washington and Tehran were in a process of nuclear negotiations. The Israeli attack triggered a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians.
The United States also entered the war by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces targeted strategic sites across the occupied territories as well as the Al-Udeid air base in Qatar, the largest American military base in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran, through its successful retaliatory operations against both the Israeli regime and the US, managed to impose a halt to the aggression.
