Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Tuesday with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during his official visit to Cairo at the head of a diplomatic delegation.
During the meeting, Araghchi presented a report on the progress of Iran-Egypt interactions at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
He underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including economy, trade, tourism, as well as joint efforts to safeguard regional security and stability.
Araghchi also thanked Egypt for its constructive role regarding Iran’s nuclear issue, particularly for hosting the joint Iran-IAEA meeting that finalized a new framework of cooperation in the wake of unlawful attacks by the US and Israel on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
He described such collaboration as a clear sign of mutual trust and understanding, urging that it be used as a valuable basis for further strengthening ties.
El-Sisi expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and stressed the significance of continued consultations between the two countries to secure the interests of their nations and the region, IRNA reported.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments, especially the dire situation in Gaza, Israeli crimes against Palestinians, and Tel Aviv’s repeated aggressions, including Tuesday’s terrorist attack on Qatar.
They emphasized the need for regional coordination to end Israel’s warmongering and preserve security.
