Iran and Turkey’s foreign ministers have pledged to strengthen strategic ties and expand cooperation in key areas, including trade, energy, transport, border security, and regional exchanges.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, met on the sidelines of an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah on Monday. The two ministers described relations between Tehran and Ankara as “strategic and continuous” and agreed to accelerate joint projects and regional initiatives.
Araghchi thanked Turkey for its active role in supporting the Palestinian cause and leading the OIC as the rotating chair of the organization, urging stronger Islamic unity against Israel’s expansionist policies.
Both sides also underlined the importance of convening the Iran-Turkey High Council of Cooperation “as soon as possible” to deepen bilateral ties.
The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to regular consultations and coordination, saying regional and international cooperation should be guided by mutual respect, the principle of good neighborliness, and common interests, IRNA reported.
