Beijing urges for diplomatic solutions to address differences

Wang Yi appreciated Iran’s responsible approach in avoiding the escalation of tensions in the region, saying that Beijing’s principled stance is to oppose bullying, unilateralism, and the use of force, while supporting diplomacy and dialogue to resolve issues and differences.

In a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on the sidelines of the 25th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.) Member States in Beijing on Wednesday, Wang Yi expressed support for Iran’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security.

The Chinese minister also conveyed his country’s readiness to cooperate in international meetings, particularly at the United Nations Security Council (U.N.S.C.), to prevent the escalation of tensions in the region.

For his part, the Iranian minister praised China for its constructive stance in condemning the recent aggression by the Israeli regime and the United States against Iran.

Araqchi informed his Chinese counterpart about the latest developments regarding the aggression and the cessation of hostilities, emphasizing the significance of the responsibility of the U.N.S.C. and all governments in maintaining peace and security in the world, according to IRNA.

The two ministers further discussed the implementation of mutual agreements in economic and trade areas, consulting on the expansion of cooperation, particularly through the utilization of the S.C.O.’s capabilities.
