The Russian Foreign Ministry has rejected a recent US media report claiming that Moscow would support a nuclear deal in which Iran commits to “zero enrichment” as proposed by the United States, denouncing it as a “dirty politicized campaign.”

In an official statement released Sunday, the ministry rejected the report titled “Scoop: Putin Urges Iran to Take Zero Enrichment Nuclear Deal with U.S.” as a politicized misinformation campaign meant to escalate tensions around the Iranian nuclear program.

Citing informed sources, the U.S. news media website Axios reported on Saturday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged Iran to enter an agreement with the U.S. requiring “zero enrichment” on Iranian soil.

Reiterating Moscow’s longstanding position, the ministry emphasized that any resolution to the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program must be achieved through diplomatic channels.

The ministry added that Russia remains committed to facilitating a negotiated solution acceptable to all parties.

“We call on responsible global media outlets to cite official sources of information, explore topics, and refrain from publishing fake news,” the ministry concluded.
