Referring to the proposal put forward by Oman and its consultations to hold another round of Iran-U.S. talks on Friday in the Italian capital of Rome, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that Iran has agreed to the proposal.
Baqaei said that the negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Iran is determined and steadfast in pursuing the supreme rights and interests of the Iranian nation to benefit from peaceful nuclear energy, including enrichment, and the lifting of the sanctions, and will spare no effort or initiative in this regard.
The Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi wrote in a post on his X account earlier on Wednesday that "The 5th round of Iran-US talks will take place in Rome this Friday 23rd May."
The Iranian and US delegations have held four rounds of indirect talks on Tehran's nuclear program and the lifting of US sanctions in the Omani capital Muscat and Italy's Rome, but due to the US unacceptable demands it seems this round of talks will be totally different.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, on Wednesday on the sidelines of the ceremony commemorating martyr Amir Abdollahian, told reporters about the status of negotiations with the United States: "We have already responded to irrational requests, and these unusual words do not help the talks. Our position is completely clear: enrichment will continue whether with or without an agreement, but if the parties wish to have transparency regarding Iran's peaceful program, we are ready."
