Larijani says date of next round of Iran-US talks not fixed

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani said consultations are underway to determine the timing of the next round of negotiations with the United States, adding that the date will be announced in future.

In a statement to Al-Alam news website during his visit to Muscat, Larijani said his trip to Oman took place within the framework of the longstanding and strong relations between the two countries.

He explained that the visit included discussions on Iran’s expectations for enhancing trade ties and expanding development cooperation with Oman, as well as consultations on regional and international issues.

Larijani said he held talks on those matters with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Minister of the Royal Office of Oman Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, describing the discussions as very useful and voicing hope that they would continue in the future.

Regarding negotiations with the United States, Larijani said the talks had been “good to some extent,” noting that the American side appears willing to move the discussions forward toward a resolution.

However, he stressed that it is not possible to make a comprehensive judgment based on a single meeting and that the continuation of the process must be followed closely.
