Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, ahead of a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.).
Araqchi, who has traveled to Beijing to attend the 25th summit of the Council of Foreign Ministers of S.C.O. met with President Xi in Beijing on Tuesday morning, along with fellow ministers from the member countries.
He held a brief bilateral talk with Xi before joining the group meeting with all S.C.O. foreign ministers.
The top diplomat left Tehran on Monday, accompanied by a delegation, at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
According to IRNA, in addition to participating in the S.C.O. meeting, Araqchi is scheduled to hold talks with Wang and other foreign counterparts attending the event. He will expound Iran’s positions on recent developments in the region and beyond.
