On Monday, Associated Press reported that US businessman Elliott Broidy received millions of dollars from George Nader, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s adviser.
The news agency explained that: “Nader (Mohammed bin Zayed’s adviser) gave $ 2.5 million to Broidy, who is close to US President Donald Trump, to persuade Washington to take a position against Qatar.”
It added that one month after he had received the money, Broidy helped organising a conference in Washington against Doha, which has been under a blockade by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain since June 5.
The New York Times newspaper said that “Broidy is involved in promoting the UAE and Saudi Arabia’s policies in the Gulf region.”
The newspaper added that “In return, George Nader helped develop the business of Broidy’s security company, Sirkinos (in Virginia).”
“Broidy’s business has flourished after Trump won the US presidential election and earned contracts worth more than $ 200 million to establish works in the field of defence for the UAE,” the newspaper said.
The newspaper also pointed out that the company sought to build an intelligence centre in Tunisia, but the latter rejected the offer, and asked in return that the company invests in the tourism sector.
