Images of Vladimir Putin have been projected onto the Trump SoHo hotel in New York by a group of vocal activists.
Images of Putin accompanied by the phrases "Happy to help, bro", "Follow the money" and "Laundering services available" appeared in both Russian and English in the late evening yesterday.
Outside the luxury hotel, about six protesters dressed in military uniforms and holding a Russian flag stood in front of its entrance, reports the New York Daily News.
The mastermind of the protest, American digital artist Robin Bell, wrote on Twitter how the incident was based around National Dollar Day, marking the foundation of the US monetary system.
"Hi @realDonaldTrump, I'm projecting #followthemoney on the SoHo Trump hotel. On #nationaldollarday of all days,” he tweeted.
The protest came in the wake of reports special counsel Robert Mueller has impanelled a grand jury as part of his inquiry into Russian meddling with last year's US election.
A similar protest was staged at the Trump International Hotel in Washington DC in May when the words "Pay Trump bribes here" and "Emoluments Welcome" were displayed on the building.
