Netanyahu says Egypt may go the way of Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the events in Egypt may become a repeat of the Iranian scenario.

"I am concerned about the possibility of representatives of the radical Islamist movements coming to power in Egypt," he said in Jerusalem after meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Netanyahu has denied media reports that Israel has allowed parts of the Egyptian army to enter the territory of the Sinai Peninsula. "It would be a violation of the peace treaty of 1979" he said.
