Tehran, Jan. 29, 2011 – for the third consecutive day, Mohammadabad and its outskirts in Rigan region of the southeastern province of Kerman was shook by a fresh earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale on Saturday.

 

 On last Thursday alone, Mohammadabad and its surrounding areas were shaken at least 34 times with earthquakes measuring 3 to 6.1 degrees on the Richter scale.

 

The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the Saturday’s tremor at 8:13 a.m. local time (0443 GMT), according to a report by IRNA from Kerman.

The epicenter of the last quake was in an area located at 28.33 degrees in latitude and in 59.2 longitude.

Also on Friday morning, a 5.3-strong quake hit the area.

 

There werer no casualties but a number of houses were damaged in previous quakes.

But there is no immediate report on any damage to property caused by the latest quake.
